DESIGN ENGINEER

This position requires in-depth knowledge of design practices, structures, mechanisms, hydraulics, pneumatics and electrical sense and control systems. The design engineer must have strong skills in translating machine elements into industrially-suitable production equipment capable of high reliability operation with minimal and user-friendly maintenance. A talent for visualizing spatial concepts and translating them into a very good-looking machine is necessary. Writing, sketching and verbal talents are also valuable in this job.

Projects will be challenging, and a good deal of drive and dynamic self driven motivation will be required for good success. Project responsibility level is very high, and administrative details and like hurdles are minimized in favor of productivity. AutoCAD 2002 is the current platform in use; however suitable alternatives are completely satisfactory. The engineer will be occasionally working in industrial situations at our customer’s plants, and certainly in a more tranquil creative environment at this company. A full model shop with talented model makers in-house is augmented by an excellent supplier network, all of whom have a long relationship with Terronics.

Although the central element of our work is harnessing electrostatic forces; hydraulics, pneumatics, control elements, structures, and process results weight heavily into every project. While prior in-depth knowledge of these aspects is not required, success in the job will require an endless and boundless enthusiasm to learn something new and to approach each challenge with diligence and energy.

The individual will be working in a small very-professional company. A portion of the job will require tasks of general nature that may not be typical of larger, more hierarchically oriented companies.
